Therapist (Senior Therapist)

Job description

The Therapist supports youth through individualized therapeutic care within a residential treatment environment. Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, facilitating therapy sessions, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards and best practices.

Job Details

  • Position Title: Therapist / Therapist Senior
  • Responsible To: Clinical Director
  • Responsible For: Providing Behavioral Health services as defined by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, operating within their scope of practice.
  • Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of related experience in the field working with adolescents. Master’s degree preferred. LSW, LISW or LPC, or active CT status is minimal required licensure.

Function

Counsels individuals or groups on psychological or emotional problems such as stress, substance abuse, or family situations, behavioral issues, anger management and trauma. Conducts mental health assessments. Develops and implements therapeutic treatment plans in residential setting in compliance with state, federal, agency, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and all other applicable rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  1. Supports the mission and vision of Empowering to Elevate Academy as evidenced by compliance with all organizational policies and procedures and regulatory entities.
  2. Supports and facilitates positive interaction with others as evidenced by professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
  3. Exhibits effective communication skills including proper use of agency communication systems.
  4. Exhibits sound stewardship by effectively managing resources to achieve the objectives of Empowering to Elevate Academy.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conducts mental health assessments (initial and comprehensive diagnostic assessments, risk assessments etc.) within the required timeline.
  2. Develops Crisis Prevention Plans and Safety Plans as needed.
  3. Provides crisis interventions and counseling as needed.
  4. Develops residents’ Individual Service Plans and Personal Care plans.
  5. Creates Monthly Progress reports.
  6. Directly provides and coordinates mental health services that are problem focused and built on individual’s, family’s and community strengths.
  7. Provides group therapy and individual and family counseling.
  8. Meets billing productivity as established by Empowering to Elevate Academy.
  9. Conducts residents’ quarterly program evaluations and collects data for quality assurance activities.
  10. Maintains necessary documentation. Submits notes in a timely manner.
  11. Attends treatment team and clinical supervision meetings.
  12. Completes child abuse referrals as required of all mandated reporters. Documents observed reportable incidents.
  13. Maintains 24/7 on call availability (as a secondary contact) for emergent therapeutic issues including, but not limited to:
    • Risk assessments (in case of suicidal or homicidal threats),
    • Clients experiencing panic or anxiety attacks or psychotic episodes,
    • Clients in need of urgent counseling (e.g. processing bad news), and
    • Other serious therapeutic issues.
  14. Meets all professional licensure and continuing education requirements in accordance with the
    local, state and Federal laws.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
